University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance welcomes 2013 William Bolcom Distinguished Visiting Composer Steven Mackey to campus from Princeton University as composer and performer for a concert of works on the cutting edge of contemporary composition. This concert, entitled Angles of Abstraction, reflects themes of Adolph Gottlieb: Abstract Expressionist Paintor & Sculptor, on display at UMMA.

The program also integrates the spoken word with the premiere of a commissioned poem by Ann Arbor poet, Megan Levad into a seamless hour-long presentation.

Following the concert, a 9pm After-Party in the Pendleton Room at the Michigan Union will invite conversation with poet & composer, and feature a performance of Mr. Mackey's Animal, Vegetable and Mineral by the Don Sinta Saxophone Quartet.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of fantastic music & remarkable art...!
